Künker sale 353, lot 3485

This specimen was lot 3485 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €40 (about US$56 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1764, A, Berlin. Mit längerer Büste. 5,01 g. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Möller 14, Kassel 1994, Nr. 1271. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one sixth thaler of 1764, Berlin mint, with long bust. Very fine.)"

This type was struck 1764-70, 1780 and 1786. in large quantities at several mints altho nice specimens are scarce. A few of the younger bust type (KM 269) were also struck in Berlin in 1764.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 5.35 g, 0.521 fine silver, this specimen is 5.01 g.
