Prussia 1764-F mariengroschen
This specimen was lot 3709 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €320 (about US$445 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Mariengroschen 1764, F, Magdeburg. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. R Sehr schön +. Exemplar der Slg. Lauterbach, Auktion Frankfurter Münzhandlung 131, Frankfurt/Main 1988, Nr. 801. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, mariengroschen of 1764, Magdeburg mint, struck for the western provinces. Rare, very fine or better.)"
This rare type is listed but not priced in the SCWC. It accompanied an equally scarce two mariengroschen. After narrowly escaping complete destruction in the Seven Years' War, Frederick II henceforth pursued a much less warlike foreign policy.
