Künker sale 353, lot 3518

This specimen was lot 3518 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €190 (about US$265 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1764, D, Aurich. RR Fast sehr schön. Erworben am 5.2.1983 von Fritz Rudolf Künker, Osnabrück. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-sixth thaler of 1764, Aurich mint. Very rare, about very fine.)"

This type was struck at the Aurich mint 1764 only for East Friesland. The other mints struck a similar coin.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a scarce date.

Specification: 5.35 g, 0.521 fine silver, this specimen is 5.07 g.
