Prussia 1764-E schilling
This specimen was lot 3667 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €30 (about US$42 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Schilling 1764, E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Kratzer, Randfehler, sehr schön. Erworben am 10.11.1992 von Udo Gans, Arnsberg. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, schilling of 1764, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia. Scratches, rim nicks, very fine.)"
This type was officially struck for Prussia but likely also circulated in Poland. The weak government there could do little to prevent the dumping of debased coin and Prussia, Russia and Austria were quick to take advantage. After narrowly escaping complete destruction in the Seven Years' War, Frederick II henceforth pursued a much less warlike foreign policy.
