Künker sale 353, lot 3791

This specimen was lot 3791 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €75 (about US$104 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Ku.-3 Pfennig 1763, D, Aurich. Prägung während des Siebenjährigen Krieges. Sehr schön. Exemplar der Auktion Berliner Münz-Cabinet 10, Berlin 1979, Nr. 3388. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, copper three pfennig, Aurich mint, struck during the Seven Years War. Very fine.)"

This type was struck in 1763 at the Aurich mint for use in East Friesland. The year 1763 marks the first year of peace after the near-disastrous Seven Years' War.
