Künker sale 353, lot 3781

This specimen was lot 3781 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €800 (about US$1,113 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1763, F, Magdeburg. Prägung während des Siebenjährigen Krieges. RR Leichte Prägeschwäche am Rand, vorzüglich. Exemplar der Auktion Galerie des Monnaies 25, Düsseldorf 1981, Nr. 321. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one sixth thaler of 1763, Magdeburg mint, struck during the Seven Years War. Very rare, slightly weakly struck on the rim, extremely fine.)"

This type was struck 1752-59 and 1763-64. The year 1763 marks the first year of peace after the near-disastrous Seven Years' War.
