This specimen was lot 109 in Schulman auction 385 (Amsterdam, July 2025), where it did not sell. The catalog description[1] noted, "German States - Thaler 1561, Silver, VOLKMAR WOLFGANG, EBERWEIN & ERNST VI 1554-1561, HOHNSTEIN St. Andrew with cross standing facing. Rev. helmeted arms. Very fine." The auctioneers incorrectly catalogued this as [[Hohnstein (15)57 thaler Dav-9310|Dav-9310]], which has the obverse legend "VOLCM◦WOLF◦EWERWEI◦E◦ERNS:". This one has the obverse legend as "VOLCMAR◦WOLF◦ET◦ERNESTVS:", marking it as Dav-9311, and was struck 1561 only. The county of Hohnstein was a minor state, neighbor of [[German States, Stolberg|Stolberg]], Eichsfeld and Schwarzburg. The local dynasty fell extinct in 1593. The state was ruled by Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel 1613-34 and Sayn-Wittgenstein 1634-1701. It was later partitioned between Hannover and Prussia.
