Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 1386 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €3,400 (about US$4,392 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STOLBERG-STOLBERG UND STOLBERG-ROSSLA, GRAFSCHAFTEN (DIE JÜNGERE STOLBERGER HAUPTLINIE AUS DER TEILUNG VON 1645) Christof Friedrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg und Jost Christian zu Stolberg-Rossla, 1704-1738. Reichstaler 1715, Stolberg. Ausbeute der Stolberger Gruben. RR Sehr schön. (Germany, counties of Stolberg-Stolberg and Stolberg-Rossla, joint issue, thaler of 1715, Stolberg mint, for the Stolberg mines. Rare, very fine.)"

Another mining thaler was issued in 1717 (Dav-2799).
