Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 3872 in Sincona sale 9 (Zürich, October 2012), where it sold for 3600 CHF (about US$4,553 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"DEUTSCHLAND Stolberg-Wernigerode, Grafschaft Ernst, 1677-1710. Taler 1710. Auf seinen Tod. Selten. Kl. Kr. Vorzüglich. (County of Stolberg-Wernigerode, Ernest I, 1677-1710, thaler of 1710, on the death of the count, rare, cleaned, extremely fine.)"

This type is accompanied by a quarter thaler, half thaler, double thaler and ducat. The next thaler was issued in 1724.
