Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 4404 in Künker sale 335 (Osnabrück, Germany, March 2020), where it sold for €3,800 (about US$4,973 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"STOLBERG, STOLBERG-WERNIGERODE, GRAFSCHAFT (DIE ÄLTERE LINIE). Ernst allein, 1672-1710. 1/2 Reichstaler 1710, Stolberg, auf seinen Tod. R Prachtexemplar. Schöne Patina, vorzüglich +. (Germany, county of Stolberg-Wernigerode, Ernest, sole rule, 1672-1710, half thaler of 1710, Stolberg mint, on his death. Scarce, cabinet piece, nice patina, extremely fine or better.)"

This commemorative is rare and the SCWC shows no photo. This type is accompanied by a quarter thaler, thaler, double thaler and ducat. The next thaler was issued in 1724.
