Stolberg 1719-IIG thaler Dav-2802
This specimen was lot 1388 in Künker sale 263 (Osnabrück, June 2015), where it sold for €1,150 (about US$1,486 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"STOLBERG-STOLBERG UND STOLBERG-ROSSLA, GRAFSCHAFTEN (DIE JÜNGERE STOLBERGER HAUPTLINIE AUS DER TEILUNG VON 1645) Christof Friedrich zu Stolberg-Stolberg und Jost Christian zu Stolberg-Rossla, 1704-1738. Reichstaler 1719, Stolberg. Ausbeute der Stolberger Gruben. Hübsche Patina, sehr schön-vorzüglich. (Germany, counties of Stolberg-Stolberg and Stolberg-Rossla, joint issue, thaler of 1719, Stolberg mint, for the Stolberg mines. Toned, very fine to extremely fine.)"
This is one of the few thalers from this locale that is not a one year type, being issued 1719, 1721, 1723 and 1734. It is still scarce.
