Stack's Bowers 2014 ANA sale, lot 690

Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 690 in Stack's Bowers ANA auction (Chicago, August 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "GERMANY. Stolberg. Taler, 1546. NGC MS-63. Lustrous. Very attractive, with a frosty finish." This type of 1546-48 is from one of the many splinters of Stolberg. A double thaler (Dav-9865) exists.
