Stolberg in 1789, with Wernigerode to the northwest near Halberstadt

This specimen was lot 238 in Sincona sale 54 (Zürich, May 2019), where it sold for 3,000 CHF (about US$3,570 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"Stolberg-Stolberg, Grafschaft, Johann Martin, 1638-1669. Dukat 1649, Rottleberode. Äusserst selten. Gutes sehr schön. Feine Goldpatina. (Germany, county of Stolberg-Stolberg, John Martin, 1638-69, ducat of 1649. Extremely rare, Good very fine, Nice gold toning.)"

This rare type was also struck in 1647.
