This specimen was lot 71554 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Santa Ana, CA, October 2020), where it sold for $132. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Stolberg-Stolberg. 1/48 Taler, 1750-IEVC. Stolberg Mint. Christoph Ludwig II & Friedrich Botho. PCGS MS-62 Gold Shield. KM-230. A charming little minor, this near choice piece does exhibit a few minor flan flaws on the obverse, yet remains pleasing and lustrous, with a light steel gray tone throughout." This type, worth half a groschen, was struck intermittently 1745-56 and undated. It was accompanied by a 1/24 thaler (KM 224), 1/12 thaler (KM 232), 1/6 thaler (KM 218), 1/3 thaler (KM 220) and 2/3 thaler (KM 211).
