This specimen was lot 29542 in Heritage sale 3037 (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,762.50. The catalog description[1] noted, "Stolberg-Stolberg. Christoff Ludwig II & Friedrich Botho gold 1/2 Ducat 1750/48-IEVC MS62 NGC. Fully lustrous harvest-gold surfaces featuring boldly-struck overdate details and the popular obverse stag design. Despite a few minor ticks which are noted in the grade, this is a wonderful example from the trade coinage series." This tiny county issued gold coins as small as a 1/32 ducat. Half ducats were issued erratically 1715-70.
