This specimen was lot 20637 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Philadelphia, August 2018), where it sold for $3,360. The catalog description[1] noted, "GERMANY. Stolberg-Stolberg. Taler, 1626-CZ. NGC MS-63+. Sharply struck with slight doubling in places and a luxurious veil of deep tone over smooth, lustrous surfaces on both sides. VERY RARE quality for this popular stag-featured type." This type, issued 1624-26, is one of the few affordable issues from this locale.
