Künker sale 353, lot 3604

This specimen was lot 3604 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €140 (about US$195 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 18-Gröscher 1751, W/E, Königsberg. Prägung für die Provinz Preußen. Mit Signatur W im Armabschnitt und BORVSSORM in der Vorderseitenumschrift. Stempelschneider Otto Herman Wissel. Von großer Seltenheit. Kl. Schrötlingsfehler, sehr schön +. Exemplar der Slg. Manfred Olding, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 10, Osnabrück 1988, Nr. 268. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 18 groscher of 1751, Königsberg mint, struck for the province of Prussia, with the initial "W" below the portrait and "BORVSSORM" in the obverse legend. Extremely rare, minor field flaws, very fine or better.)"

This type was struck in 1751-54 for use in East Prussia and the neighboring parts of Poland. It was worth about a fifth of a thaler and was accompanied by a six groscher and three groscher.
