Prussia 1750-A 1/2 thaler
This specimen was lot 3381 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €120 (about US$167 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/2 Reichstaler preuß. 1750, A, Berlin. Auf jeder Seite der Waffengruppe 9 Spitzen und ein Kanonenrohr. Mit Rhombenrand. Sehr schön. Erworben am 17.11.1988. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, half thaler of 1750, Berlin mint. The reverse shows nine spears and a cannon barrel on each side of the weapons group, with diamonds on the edge. Very fine.)"
This type, tho struck 1750 only, is not expensive. In 1750, the mints were reorganized and the mintmaster's initials dropped in favor of mintmarks (A = Berlin, B = Breslau, C = Cleve, D = Aurich, E = Konigsberg, F = Magdeburg and G = Stettin).
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 11.13 g, 0.750 fine silver, this specimen 11,14 g.
