Künker sale 353, lot 3393

This specimen was lot 3393 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €1,300 (about US$1,809 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/6 Reichstaler preuß. 1750, A, Berlin. Von größter Seltenheit. Min. Schrötlingsfehler, vorzüglich +. Exemplar der Slg. Manfred Olding, Auktion Fritz Rudolf Künker 10, Osnabrück 1988, Nr. 27 und der Auktion Schulten + Co. Köln, Oktober 1990, Nr. 1906. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, one-sixth thaler of 1750, Berlin mint. Extremely rare, minor field marks, extremely fine or better.)"

This type was struck 1750-55 at several mints. In 1750, the mints were reorganized and the mintmaster's initials dropped in favor of mintmarks (A = Berlin, B = Breslau, C = Cleve, D = Aurich, E = Konigsberg, F = Magdeburg and G = Stettin).

Recorded mintage: unknown.

Specification: 5.35 g, 0.521 fine silver, this specimen 5.28 g.
