Prussia 1749-EGN 1/48 thaler
This specimen was lot 3561 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €35 (about US$49 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,
"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. 1/48 Taler 1749, EGN, Berlin. Prägung für die Mark Brandenburg. Münzmeister Ernst Georg Neubauer. Sehr schön-vorzüglich. Erworben am 27.11.1976. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, 1/48 thaler of 1749, Berlin mint, struck for the mark of Brandenburg. Very fine to extremely fine.)"
This type was struck at Berlin 1743-49 but is noted as common. Altho valued at 1/48 thaler, this coin had only 1/53 as much silver.
