Künker sale 353, lot 3719

This specimen was lot 3719 in Künker sale 353 (Osnabrück, Germany, September 2021), where it sold for €30 (about US$42 including buyer's fees). The catalog description[1] noted,

"BRANDENBURG-PREUSSEN, PREUSSEN, KÖNIGREICH, Friedrich II. der Große, 1740-1786. Ku.-Deut 1749, ohne Münzzeichen, Cleve. Prägung für die westlichen Landesteile. Olding 286 a; Kluge 289.1. Sehr schön. Erworben am 20.12.1983 von Udo Gans, Arnsberg. (Germany, kingdom of Prussia, Frederick II the Great, 1740-86, copper duit of 1749 without mintmark, Cleve mint, struck for the western provinces. Very fine.)"

The duit is a familiar copper coin to Dutch collectors but is unusual for Germany but Cleve is next door to the Netherlands. This type is noted for 1749-50.
