This specimen was lot 1357 in Stack's "Vermuele, Ward & Mexico Maxico" sale (New York, January 2010), where it sold for $546.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Republic. ½ Escudo, 1848/7 GC MP. Guadalupe y Calvo. Hand inscribing law book with quill and Liberty Cap. Rv. Bold eagle facing r. with snake in beak. 'E' missing lower crossbar. A sharply impressed coin that retains orange-gold color despite a few minor hairlines. The second 8 is punched in low and very deep into the die. Hairlined. About Uncirculated."
