This specimen was part of lot 73101 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $1,159. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Group of 2 Reales (14 Pieces), 1844-53. Guanajuato Mint. Average Grade: VERY FINE. SOLD AS IS/NO RETURNS. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Both assayer PF (1848-61) and assayer PM (Patrick Murphy, 1842-48) stamped two reales at Guanajuato in 1848. The 1848-PM and the overdate 1848/7-PM are common while the 1848-PF is rare.
