This specimen was lot 73087 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $149. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1848-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. NGC EF Details--Obverse Scratched. Scarce assayer. Tied for finest of three examples graded by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Both assayer PF (1848-61) and assayer PM (Patrick Murphy, 1842-48) stamped two reales at Guanajuato in 1848. The 1848-PM and the overdate 1848/7-PM are common while the 1848-PF is rare.
