This specimen was part of lot 72073 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), which sold for $793. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Septet of 1/2 Reales (7 Pieces), 1846-60. Culiacan Mint. Grade Range: VERY FINE to EXTREMELY FINE. 1) 1846-C CE. 2) 1848/7-C CE. 3) 1853/1-C CE. 4) 1854-C CE. 5) 1856-C CE. 6) 1857/6-C CE. 7) 1860/59-C PV. Without star in legend. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca and Real de Catorce did not strike this type. The Culiacan mint struck this denomination 1846-49, 1852-63 and 1867-69. The SCWC lists only this 1848/7 for the year although no 1847-C is known to exist.
