This specimen was lot 73354 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, September 2023), where it sold for $576. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1848-C CE. Culiacan Mint. PCGS AU-58. Graded just shy of mint-state, this Real showcases exceptional originality with well-struck central devices backlit by captivating luster. This coin hails from the tumultuous year of 1848, marked by significant political changes and the establishment of the Second Federal Republic of Mexico, making it a noteworthy addition to any discerning numismatist's collection." This specimen was struck at the Culiacan mint in 1848. The issues of Culiacan are known for 1846-63 and 1869.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 3.38 g, 0.903 fine silver, 0.098 troy oz ASW.
