This specimen was lot 24383 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $264. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Real, 1849-PiPS. PCGS MS-62 Secure Holder. Scarce date in mint state. Slightly weak strike, lustrous." This specimen was struck at the San Luis Potosí mint in 1849. This mint struck silver coins 1825-93, with one reals recorded for 1831, 1837-62. The one reals from this mint are not rare but are priced, on average, double the contemporary products from Zacatecas or Guanajuato.
