The first specimen was lot 8143 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $431.25. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 1/2 Real, 1849-GaJG. NGC MS-64." This specimen was struck at the Guadalajara mint in 1849, one of a type struck there 1825-62. Assayer JG is listed for 1842-62.
Recorded mintage: unknown.
Specification: 1.69 g, 0.903 fine silver, .049 troy oz ASW.
