Stack's Bowers November 2022 Collectors Choice sale, lot 72650

This specimen was lot 72650 in Stack's Bowers Collectors Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, November 2022), where it sold for $960. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1849-Ga JG. Guadalajara Mint. PCGS MS-62. A bright white coin with some spotting flecks, yet one needs to appreciate the coin's cartwheel luster." Another scarce date from Guadalajara, which struck this type 1825-95.
