Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, lot 73175

This specimen was lot 73175 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $244. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1849-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU-50. Highest graded of two examples by NGC. Second example graded is F-15. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. Zacatecas was a major producer of two reales, striking them 1825-70. Assayer OM (Manuel Ochoa and Manuel Miner) served 1831-56 and this is a common date. The SCWC cites no varieties for the year.
