Shown is an 1849-ZsOM 4 reales, one of a type struck at the Zacatecas mint 1830-1870. Assayer OM is recorded for 1830-56. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Guanajuato, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Guanajuato is tied with Zacatecas as the commonest mint. This particular date is fairly common but like all four reales, rare in high grade.
