Ponterio sale 159, lot 8144

This specimen was lot 8144 in Ponterio sale 159 (Baltimore, March 2011), where it sold for $287.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Guadalajara. 1/2 Real, 1850/49-GaJG. Toned. UNCIRCULATED." This specimen was struck at the Guadalajara mint in 1850, one of a type struck there 1825-62. The SCWC mentions but does not price the overdate shown here. Assayer JG is listed for 1842-62.
