Stack's Bowers May 2024 Collector's Choice sale, lot 34261

This specimen was lot 34261 in Stack's Bowers Collector's Choice sale (Costa Mesa, CA, May 2024), where it sold for $312. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1850-Go PF. Guanajuato Mint. NGC MS-62. Possessing a mostly golden-almond hue, this nearly-Choice crown displays a good deal of shimmering brilliance as well." The Guanajuato mint is tied with the Zacatecas mint as the most prolific producer of eight reales.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a common date.

Specification: 27 g, 0.903 fine silver.
