Shown is an 1850GC-MP four reales, one of a type struck 1827-1870. Assayer MP is the only recorded for the Guadalupe y Calvo mint, which struck 4 reales 1844-50. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which GC is by far the scarcest. This specimen was lot 9790 in Ponterio sale 151 (Baltimore, November 2009), where it sold for $747.50 despite being graded only Very Good.
