Morton & Eden sale 104, lot 403

This specimen was lot 403 in Morton & Eden sale 104 (London, November 2019), where it sold for £50 (about US$78 including buyer's fees). The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic, 8 reales, Culiacán mint, 1850 CE, some oxidization and surface deposit, very fine to good very fine." Assayer CE is noted for CE for 1846-70, perhaps the longest term of office for any assayer in the republican mints. This date is uncommon to scarce.

Recorded mintage: unknown but a better date.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, 0.785 troy oz ASW.
