Heritage sale 3035, lot 31206

This specimen was lot 31206 in Heritage sale 3035 (Long Beach, September 2014), where it did not sell. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 2 Escudos 1850/40 Ga-JG AU55 NGC, Guadalajara mint. An attractive specimen of this scarce date (Long: "scarce to rare") with essentially unflawed surfaces and only slight friction evidence on the higher points. From The FoxLair Collection." Guadalajara struck two escudos 1835-41, 1847-63 and 1870 and is the second commonest mint after Mexico City. No regular dates are recorded for 1850.
