This specimen was lot 73009 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $149. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 2 Reales, 1848-C CE. Culiacan Mint. NGC F-12. Scarce date. Highest graded of just two examples by NGC. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The issues of Culiacan are known for 1846-57, 1860-61 and 1869; only the 1861 is common.
