Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction, part of lot 73017

This specimen was struck at the Culiacan mint in 1847. The issues of Culiacan are known for 1846-57, 1860-61 and 1869; only the 1861 is common. Of the fourteen mints of the Republic of Mexico, only Oaxaca did not strike this type. The second specimen was part of lot 73017 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $536.80. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Quintet of 2 Reales (5 Pieces), 1847-54. Culiacan Mint. Average Grade: VERY FINE. All: KM-374.3. 1) 1847-C CE. 2) 1847-C CE. 3) 1851-C CE. 4) 1853/2-C CE. Ex: VCA Collection. 5) 1854-C CE. Very scarce. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors."
