This specimen was lot 3643 in Goldberg sale 84 (Los Angeles, January 2015), where it sold for $423. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. Escudo, 1847-C CE. Hand on book. Listed as Very Scarce in the Richard Long book. PCGS graded EF-40." The Culiacan mint struck this type 1846-70 and this date is priced by the SCWC only 25% higher than a common Mexico City issue.
