Mexico 1847-Do RM 8 reales

from Stack's Bowers November 2015 sale, lot 42596

This specimen was lot 42596 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $822.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1847-DoRM. PCGS AU-53 Secure Holder. Razor sharp rays and eagle feathers. Sharply struck with light toning. Pedigree: Ex: The J. B. Parker Collection; Superior Stamp & Coin Auction June 1998, Lot #3191." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95 and this date is somewhat scarce. The SCWC notes no overdates.

Recorded mintage: unknown but somewhat scarce.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.903 fine silver, .786 troy oz ASW.
