This specimen was lot 57612 in Stack's Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2024), where it sold for $60. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 1/2 Real, 1847-Mo RC. Mexico City Mint. NGC MS-62." This specimen was struck at the Mexico City mint in 1847, one of a type struck there 1825-63. Assayer RC is listed for 1847 only. A scarce variety exists with repunched assayer's initials RC/MC.
