This specimen was lot 73305 in Stack's Bowers June 2026 World Premier Collectors Choice Auction (Costa Mesa, CA, June 2026), where it sold for $512.40. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1847-Zs OM. Zacatecas Mint. NGC AU-58. From the Kirk Menczer Collection of Republican Reales Minors." Shown is an 1847-Z^S OM 4 reales, one of a type struck at the Zacatecas mint 1830-70. Assayer OM (Manuel Ochoa and Manuel Miner) is recorded for 1830-55. Ten mints (Mexico City, Guanajuato, Zacatecas, Potosi, Oaxaca, Hermosillo, Real del Catorce, Guadalupe y Calvo, Guadalajara and Culiacan) struck this type of which Zacatecas is tied with Guanajuato as the commonest mint. This date is common in grades up thru Very Fine.
