This specimen was lot 6261 in Ponterio sale 155 (Baltimore, November 2010), where it sold for $184. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. Durango. 8 Reales, 1848-RM. 'B' and 'G' in rays. 3 chop marks. EXTREMELY FINE." The Durango mint struck eight reales 1824-95 and this date is rare. The SCWC notes an 1848/7 overdate as well as mintmaster CM.
