Heritage sale 3024, lot 28122

This specimen was lot 28122 in Heritage sale 3024 (Chicago, April 2013), where it sold for $381.88. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Republic gold 1/2 Escudo 1848 Mo-GC, XF, a lovely example of this diminutive gold type with much luster remaining in the fields." The Mexico City mint struck this type 1825-69 and this date is noted as common.
