This specimen was lot 21179 in Stack's Bowers 2018 NYINC sale (New York, January 2018), where it sold for $2,040. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Escudos, 1848-CCE. NGC AU-55. Reasonably good strike with soft satin luster and nice eye appeal." The Culiacan mint struck eight escudos 1846-70 and is one of the abundant mints for that denomination; most dates are common.
