Mexico 1848-Mo GC 8 escudos

Stack's Bowers 2015 NYINC sale, lot 4103

This specimen was lot 4103 in Stack's-Bowers NYINC sale (New York, January 2015), where it sold for $1,057.50. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. Mexico City. 8 Escudos, 1848-MoGC. PCGS Genuine--Cleaning, EF Details Secure Holder. Well struck and evenly worn. Hairlines from being cleaned long ago, now starting to tone." The specimen shown is a middle date of a series struck 1824-69 at the Mexico City mint. That mint struck all denominations, silver, gold and copper. This date is slightly scarce, tho many dates are rare.

Specification: 27.07 g, 0.875 fine gold, .760 troy oz AGW.
