This specimen was lot 4345 in Goldberg sale 80 (Los Angeles, June 2014), where it sold for $141. The catalog description[1] noted, "Mexico. 4 Reales, 1861-Zs VL. Cap and Rays. Pop 1; none finer at PCGS. The finest grade for both grading service so far. NGC graded EF-45." Four reales are known from Zacatecas for 1830-70. An 1861/0 overdate is noted.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.
