The first specimen was lot 11260 in Ponterio sale 169 (Baltimore, November 2012), where it sold for $1,495. The catalog description[1] noted, "MEXICO. 4 Reales, 1861-HoFM. PCGS AU-53. RARE in this grade. Light wear, pretty pastel toning." Four reales are known from Hermosillo for 1861 and 1867 and this is the scarcer of the two dates.

Recorded mintage: unknown but scarce.

Specification: 13.54 g, 0.903 fine silver, .392 troy oz ASW.
