Mexico 1861-Go PF 8 reales

from Stack's Bowers November 2015 sale, lot 39434

This specimen was lot 39434 in Stack's Bowers Winter sale (Baltimore, November 2015), where it sold for $411.25. The catalog description^[1] noted, "MEXICO. 8 Reales, 1861/50-GoPF. NGC MS-63. Tied with one other example as finest certified at NGC and PCGS. Overdate clearly visible without magnification. An all-white blazer with bright satin-white luster and crisp devices. A die crack leaps from tip to tip of the rays like an electrical arc, adding further character to the piece. A coin sure to draw considerable interest." The Guanajuato mint issued this type 1825-97 and most dates after 1829 are readily available. An 1861/0 overdate is listed and given a slight premium.
