This specimen was lot 41326 in Stack's Bowers ANA sale (Chicago, August 2024), where it sold for $28,800. The catalog description^[1] noted, "Extremely Rare Sinaloa Pattern 1/4 Real Illustrated in Buttrey, MEXICO. Sinaloa. 1/4 Real Pattern, 1861. Culiacan Mint. NGC EF Details--Environmental Damage. Struck in copper. An EXTREMELY RARE offering of this splendid pattern issue. Featuring a graceful depiction of Liberty, this piece displays distinctive design elements which never appeared in circulating coinage. Moderate brown patina and largely unhandled devices ensure the coin retains its original beauty. Though a hint of roughness on the obverse periphery resulted in a details designation, this drawback is easily overlooked in light of this pattern's many appealing attributes. Specialist collectors should not miss this opportunity to acquire a type which has not appeared in auction in many years. From the EMO Collection."
